How does BakeTally work out what to charge?
It adds up your ingredients, boxes and extras, and a share of your running costs — that's "what it costs you". Then it adds your time at your hourly rate and your profit on top, plus any delivery, and rounds up to a tidy price. You set the hourly rate, running costs, profit and rounding once, under More → Your rates.
An ingredient has gone up. What do I do?
More → Ingredients, tap it, change the price, save. Every recipe that uses it updates, and you'll be told which ones changed and by how much.
I measure in cups but buy by the kilo.
Open the ingredient, tap "More options" and enter what one cup weighs. The common ingredients already have this filled in.
Can I charge something other than the suggested price?
Yes. On a quote, tap "Charge a different price". You'll see what you keep at your price — and a warning if you'd be making a loss.
Quotes and orders
Why did my quote's price change?
A draft quote follows your ingredient prices. Once you send it to the customer — or tap "I've told them another way — fix this price" — the price is fixed and won't move on its own.
What does my customer see?
What they're getting, the price, delivery, and how to pay you. Never your ingredient costs, your time or your profit.
How do I turn a quote into an order?
Open the fixed quote and tap "They said yes — make it an order", then pick the date it's due.
I recorded a payment by mistake.
Open the order and tap "Remove" next to that payment.
Getting paid
How do I put my bank details or payment link on quotes and invoices?
More → Settings → "How customers pay you". Whatever you type there is printed on your quotes and invoices.
Can I take a card payment?
If you have a SumUp reader: More → Settings → switch on "I take cards with a SumUp reader". Then on an order, Record a payment → Card → "Take it on my SumUp reader". Your SumUp app opens with the amount filled in. The money goes straight to your SumUp account.
Does BakeTally take a fee?
No. BakeTally never handles your money.
Your data
How do I back up my recipes?
More → "Keep your recipes safe". Add an email and password. On a new phone, tap "I already have an account" on the first screen.
How do I get my records for my accountant?
More → Settings → Export payments. You get a spreadsheet file of every payment by date, which you can email or save.
How do I delete my account?
More → Your account (or "Keep your recipes safe") → Delete. It removes everything permanently, so export your payment records first if you need them for tax.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. You can still open the app and export your records afterwards.
